“Yoga is a gift I give to my mind, body and spirit every time I step onto the mat. I always knew that yoga was a wonderful form of exercise but I was not expecting the mental clarity that it has provided to me. Since beginning my yoga journey at Free Spirit Yoga, I have found myself to be more calm and mindful.  It is the best way to begin my day and/or wind down from a busy day. Yoga has become a joyful necessity that will always be a part of my life and I plan to continue practicing at Free Spirit Yoga for many years to come.”  - Stephanie

OUR YOGA CLASSES

Contrary to popular belief, yoga is not a physical fitness practice. At its roots, yoga is a spiritual practice that is designed to reduce the chatter in your mind in order for you to connect more deeply with yourself. In order to do that we use physical movements and postures, breathing practices, mindfulness practices and mind-focusing practices. When these are combined, it provides a well-rounded practice that may allow you to notice the following:

Body - improved strength, flexibility, balance, endurance and overall body well-being. Many people report that yoga has helped with arthritis, back pain, migraine headaches, digestive problems and many other physical issues.

Mind/Emotions - a deeper sense of calm, reduced stress, anxiety and depression, improved mood and confidence, relaxation and a greater sense of well-being.

Spirit - forge a deeper connection with whatever your personal beliefs are.

With our classes, each teacher has their own unique style. We have an eclectic teaching approach with an emphasis on individual alignment (because not all bodies are exactly the same), slow flow (because we all can benefit from slowing down) and holding stretches with a focus on breathing (in order to promote self-awareness). Our intention is to provide a yoga practice that allows you to feel better. One that helps your body to be strong, yet relaxed; your mind to slow down and focus; and your emotions to be in balance. The hallmark of our classes is that we offer many options, alternatives and variations which allows everyone to have their own practice.
